The Groundwork Has to Be Right Before Anything Else Goes Up
Every framing crew, concrete contractor, and plumber on your job is working off what we leave behind. If the grade is off, the pad isn't level, or the drainage wasn't planned properly - everyone downstream pays for it.
Daryk has spent over a decade doing excavation and site work across Canyon and Ada County.
Born and raised in Nampa, he knows the soil conditions, the terrain, and what it takes to prep a site that's actually ready for the next trade.
When you hire Owyhee Valley Excavation, you're getting the owner on your job - not a crew you've never met.
What We Handle
Site Preparation & Rough Grading
The foundation of every build starts with proper site prep. We clear, strip topsoil, and establish rough grade before a single form goes in. That means accounting for drainage, final elevation, and building pad location from the start - not fixing problems after the fact.
We handle cut and fill grading to achieve proper elevation control, subgrade preparation for stable building conditions, and compaction to meet engineer specs.
Foundation & Footing Excavation
Precision matters here more than anywhere else on the job. We dig foundations and footings to spec - correct depth, clean walls, proper bearing surface. Whether it's a crawl space, stem wall, or full basement, we coordinate directly with your foundation contractor so there are no surprises when they show up.
Canyon County's clay-heavy soils require extra attention to bearing conditions. We know what to look for and what to do when conditions aren't ideal.
Building Pad & RV Pad Excavation
Need a level pad for a home, shop, garage, or detached structure? We excavate and prep building pads that are level, properly compacted, and ready for whatever goes on top. Same process for RV pads and equipment storage areas that need to handle serious weight long-term.
Gravel Driveways & Private Road Construction
From a simple residential driveway to a private access road on rural acreage, we handle the full scope - excavation, base preparation, gravel installation, and compaction. A properly built gravel driveway or road holds up through Idaho winters without washing out or developing soft spots.
Utility Trenching & Drainage
Water lines, sewer lines, electrical conduit, drainage channels - we trench to proper depth and slope, backfill correctly, and compact to prevent future settlement. Drainage isn't an afterthought on our jobs. We plan for water management from the beginning, so you're not dealing with erosion or pooling problems after the build is done.
Pre-Construction Site Clearing
Before grading can start, the site has to be cleared. We handle light vegetation removal, surface debris clearing, topsoil stripping, and organic material removal to expose stable subgrade. Clean site, clean start.
Why It Matters Who Does Your Groundwork
The most common complaint we hear from homeowners and contractors about excavation companies is simple - they don't communicate. They show up late, change scope without telling anyone, and leave you guessing about where your project stands.
We operate differently. When you call, you're talking directly to the owner - not a dispatcher, not a sales rep. If something changes on the job - soil conditions, unexpected rock, drainage issues - you hear about it immediately, not after it's already caused a problem downstream.
That's not a marketing line. It's just how we work.
